Auto Clean modes

Auto Clean controls how PrintGuardian handles maintenance cleans when the printer is idle or needs attention. It is a safety net for regular care, not a replacement for checking pads, moisturizer, waste tank, and ink levels.

Recommended mode: Smart for normal use.

Modes

Off (notify only)

PrintGuardian will not start a clean automatically. It can still warn you when a clean is due, so you can decide when to run maintenance yourself. Use this when someone is always responsible for checking the printer manually.

Smart

Smart is the recommended setting for normal unattended protection. It uses printer activity and environment readings to decide when a clean is due, and it is more proactive than Holiday mode.

• Rough guide: about every 2 days while the printer remains idle.

• PrintGuardian may clean sooner if conditions suggest the printer needs extra care.

Holiday mode

Holiday mode is for short holidays or longer idle periods where the printer is being left prepared but not fully emptied. It uses the same style of logic as Smart, but with a gentler target of roughly every 3 days.

If your app has not been updated yet, this behavior may still appear as Smart. Holiday mode is the name for that gentler long-idle behavior going forward.

Before using Holiday mode, do the normal xTool maintenance first: clean and moisturize the pads, wipe the heads, empty the waste tank, and make sure the ink tanks are full, especially moisturizer.

Every Day

PrintGuardian will try to run a maintenance clean about once per day when the printer is due. This is useful if you want a simple fixed routine for a printer that is used regularly.

Every Idle Day

PrintGuardian will only clean after the printer has had an idle day. This is useful for printers that are used intermittently and do not need a clean on active print days.

What to expect

• Auto Clean will not repeat cleans back to back.

• PrintGuardian applies cooldowns and rate limits.

• It avoids cleaning immediately after recent printer use or a recent successful clean.

• You can always run a clean manually from the printer maintenance menu if you want to inspect the printer first.
